Our visit at Storck Bicycle GmbH

We had the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at an interview with our partner Storck Bicycle GmbH. CEO Markus Storck gives us exciting insights about the new Storck e: Drenalin.2 SRS new Storck e: Drenalin.2 SRS with Sachs RS drive and future forecasts for the ebike industry, which we will share with you in the coming weeks!

PS: The new Storck e: Drenalin.2 SRS with Sachs RS drive is now available everywhere! Visit the link or one of the Storck stores near you!

The Storck Bicycle company has been active in the sporty bicycle sector for 27 years as an exclusive manufacturer and became known for its fi rst Olympic gold medal in mountain biking in 1996 by Bart Brentjens.

ZF Micro Mobility:

Hello Markus, Storck Bicycle originally comes from the sporty mountain bike segment. Why have you decided to build electric mountain bikes?

Markus Storck:

That’s a question where I just have to say, why not? If you build sporty bikes and have new possibilities, you can also build sporty e bikes. Today, we see more and more e bikes that have been used in the urban sector. These consumers used to ride traditional bikes. In th e beginning, there was always the prejudice that you cannot ride sportively on an e bike. But I always say that depends on how you ride.

ZF Micro Mobility

This means that you also clearly see the e bike as a sports device for you. There is a prejudice that the e drive has no training effect.

Markus Storck:

No, I don’t see any contact here. To put this into figures: On my house lap, I make it to an average speed of 31.6 km/h with the e: drenalin.2 SRS. How is that possible? Quite simply, the Sachs RS is so stro ng that I also climb uphill at 23 or 24 km/h on most uphill gradients. The rest I get out on the descent or in the plain, where I ride again clearly above 25 km/h. The e bike has the advantage of increasing the radius and achieving higher speeds. You can al so bring full power with an E Fully. In the first year of the E Bike World Championships, I had an average pulse of 174.

ZF Micro Mobility:

To what extent has this philosophy been incorporated into the development of the e: drenalin.2 SRS?

Markus Storck:

For us, it was important to have another real gamechanger in terms of performance for the other models in our product portfolio. This can be felt and noticed when traveling on the Sachs RS and riding uphill with friends or other cyclists in the forest. Here, the Sachs RS shows its superiority.

This was also very exciting for me during my 4. Participation in the E Bike WM 2022. With a four digit number of participants, I was second at the highest point and 21st in the finish.

ZF Micro Mobility:

At this point, congratulations again on the experienced placement and every success for 2023. We will als o be on site in 2023 and are looking forward to seeing what you can achieve.

You already talked about the topic of power, which is one of the main features of the Sachs RS drive. What were other reasons why you chose the Sachs RS drive system?

Markus Storck

You have to look at this from the customer’s perspective, which is important for you. On the one hand, we have performance that is not comparable to the market companions.

The second is the stability, i.e. how durable a motor is.

Finally, it is the technology on which the system is based. Firstly, the 48 volt system and the 21,700 cells of the battery system. These enable me to pull more on the mountain and load faster in the future. These are all advantages that were decisive.

Of course, there is also t he driving feeling. Here, we have to say that together with the ZF Micro Mobility team, we have always provided feedback on loops in order to improve the drive from a haptic point of view. Very good work has been done here.

ZF Micro Mobility

Thank you again for your feedback and input. This allows us to continuously improve our products.

Finally, we would be interested in what your plans are for the future. Where would you like to go as Storck?

Markus Storck

For us and our consumers, it is important that a drive is also available for years. And it already plays a role for us that the Sachs RS will be produced until at least 2027 and that a spare parts supply is still guaranteed 8 years later.

The second is that with the tool investments we made for the carbon frames, we also get new cell generations, i.e. further expansion stages of the battery. These will have 800Wh + in the future without increasing the installation space or adding weight.
